About The Herd
Hello and welcome to our website! We have been raising purebred Nubians since 1999. We are located in Palo Cedro CA. It is small town located right outside of Redding, CA. We had Toggs for about 4 years, but decided that our hearts lay with the Nubians so the Toggs were sold. It was then that my sister decided that she wanted a Lamancha....so we are now part of the Lamancha world. In 2008 we plan to do a linear appraisal and a one day milk test for the does that have not gotten their milk stars yet.
We breed for a Nubian that is strong in general appearance being long and level over the topline, and strong on their feet and legs. We want to see strong mammary systems that are high and wide in the rear and well attached with strong smooth fore udders. We also want to see that beautiful Nubian breed character about the head.
Over the years we have found four herds that we feel really feel shine in all areas of the scorecard and we have chosen to base our does off of those herds. They are: Lassenwood, Kastdemur's, Lakeshore, and Willow Run. We have been fortunate to be within close distance of 3 of these herds! We have greatly appreciated all of the mentoring that these people have done with us over the years!
Herd health is very important to us! We feed only the highest quality alfalfa we can find. Milking does are given a 16% dairy ration. Kids are raised on a CAE prevention program being started with heat-treated colostrum and then raised on pasteurized milk. Kids are raised away from the adult goats and are not weaned till about four months of age. All animals are given BoSe and CD-T shots twice a year, Fall and Spring. Free choice minerals are available at all times.
Sale Policy: We require a $50 deposit per kid that you decide to reserve. We would like you to pick a first choice kid as well as a second choice. We will refund any orders that we cannot cannot fill. However we will not refund any deposits on orders that are cancelled. We reserve the right to retain any kid for herd replacement. Buyers are responsible for health papers, crate, etc...We prefer that you come pick up the kid in person so you can see the relatives, but we realize that that is not always possible.
We hope you enjoy browsing the pages and if you have any questions about any of our animals please feel to e-mail us. We love to talk goats!
Best Regards
Tom, Diane, Claire, Corrie, and Cameron Pella
